Frank Carlyle

University educated, PhD used to teach Roman Britain and English Literature before moving on to teach Local History. I was asked by friend of mine if I knew anything about Local History, because he was let down by a tutor at the last minute. He knew I taught history, I told him I only knew certain local things like a couple of VC’s and a few buildings. I took the class that night way back in 1990. That’s how I got into Local History.

I’m one of the top Six historians in the country about the 1605 Gunpowder Plot. I’ve appeared many times on Television involving Historical themes whether it’s local, national or International History. I’ve appeared in a Panto at the Ormskirk Civic centre, and a play at Liverpool’s Empire theatre. I make DVD’s and written a book on the History of Liverpool.

On Monday night’s from 8pm – 10pm on Mersey Radio, I present a mixture of 60s & 70s music with the odd opera song that you will know and hope enjoy !!!
